2017 La Volpe 'Special'

Location: Monteleone di Orvieto, Italy
South-eastern slope, at an altitude of 350 meters, surface of vineyard: 1,5 ha
Grape variety: 70% Sangiovese + 30% Merlot.

Harvest: 2nd week of October, grapes were harvested manually and collected in small baskets. Yield is 20 hl/ha.
Weather: We had night frost at the end of April, which destroyed part of the young shoots on the vines. Springtime and summer were hot, and fortunately in September we got some rain.
Vinification: After destemming, fermentation took place at a maximum temperature of 19C for a period of 14 days in our cement tanks, with regular pushing down the cap in order to have the skins immersed.
Maturation: For 2 years in our inox tank.
The wine: Has a hint of sweetness and should be drunk between 2023 and 2030.
Analysis: Alcohol: 15 %
