Growing the grapes: | Vines in old vineyard planted in the year 1975 with 1800 vines per hectare, vines in new vineyard planted in 2003 with a density of 5000 plants type of training of the vines in both vineyards is simple Guyot cultivation of vineyard with respect for environment and nature: biological. |
Harvest: | Merlot was harvested on the 21st of September and Sangiovese on the 1st of October, grapes were harvested manually and collected in small baskets. |
Weather: | Winter was cold and also spring recorded low temperatures and a lot of rain. As from the 1st of June the weather really changed for the better and it became a beautiful warm, sometimes hot summer. It became an 'haute couture' vintage. |
Vinification: | After destemming, fermentation took place at a maximum temperature of 26°C for a period of 26 days in our cement tanks, with regular pushing down the cap in order to have the skins immersed. |
Maturation: | For 18 months in 70% new oak French barrique. Malolactic fermentation took place in barrique. |
The wine: | Drink between now and 15 years. |
